Bethlehem is a Missouri Synod Lutheran church located in Altoona, WI. Our best understanding of God's calling and plan for Bethlehem is to connect people to His Son, Jesus Christ, and to show God's love by caring for each other, our guests and visitors, and our community.
God's Will for the Future of Our Congregation
Our community is Christ centered because of His work through Bethlehem. We are His hands reaching out to our community providing a stable shelter. Bethlehem is a beacon of hope and care in the sea of life because we are anchored to His Word.
Our guests return often because they are connected to Jesus through the Gospel. They are genuinely welcomed, consistently included, and intentionally supported.
Our members are passionate disciples worshipping and growing in Christ with a deep, contagious faith. We are equipped, encouraged, and challenged to be His servants to the world.

At Bethlehem we foster a spirit of evangelism, encourage personal witness, and invite our community to join the Family of God through faith in His Son Jesus Christ. THE PASTOR’S PLACE…
It’s changed. No longer a “Vicar’s Voice” filling this slot--but the “Revised Edition.”
As I have now gained the title of “Pastor“, so this portion of our Newsletter will now contain my “Place.”
Some things change…and some things don’t. I’m still
the same “chief eagle” with a deep desire to help all of
us “fly a little higher!”
Yes, my “hope” is still “in the Lord”…seeking to be a part
of the “soar”ing on “wings like eagles” (Isaiah 40:31) with
you! This soaring is something I can’t do for you!
Consider these “new height” possibilities here at Bethlehem Lutheran--
+If each family chose to give an extra 1% of their time to our
wide-range of ministries! Or,
+If each family committed an extra 1% of their income to our
growth here--within God’s Lutheran church in Altoona!
Something so small could, collectively, make a remarkable difference in our “family”…our future!
As you consider our “soar”ing possibilities, reflect on a famous quote from John F. Kennedy, shared during one of his “State of the Union” addresses--
“Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do
for your country.”
Simply replacing the word “country” with “church” gives a different reflection on what “eagles” do differently--they make a difference!
To God be the glory--for all He can do through us!
